![]() The travel industry has changed so much since 1980 when I started. I remember traveling and staying at road side motels. Do you remember you would check in and drive your car to the door park and walk into the room. You can still find such properties today. The thing that I remember most was that we were traveling by car. When you travel with a truck driver you did not linger very long! You stopped showered, slept and were on the road again. As an adult I do not travel that way!! If I am stopping at a property I would like to relax and enjoy the place that I am staying. Even if it is just for the night. You might asks why the walk through memory lane? And if you have not guessed this has nothing to do with water! Recently I was at the La Quinta here in Madison, WI for a meeting. The lobby sported a chandler, fireplace and a flower arrangement that are very impressive. It was not at all what I imagined the hotel to be. It is located on the far east side of Madison with easy access to the expressway. It is also located very close to the New Marcus Movie theater, a few stores and restaurants. Can you picture yourself sitting in the comfortable fireplace area above? It was so warm and welcoming. Just past it you will find a real bar with a bar keep. Not like the hotel that I worked at where we sold beers over the hotel counter. They have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, a fitness center, free wifi and breakfast. (time restrictions may apply) You ask why am I telling you so much about the this property. Because it is a hidden gem. Picture yourself thinking of a special occasion birthday, anniversary, Valentines day or date night. You could put together such a lovely package movie, dinner, swim in the pool, drinks and room. With Marcus you could purchase your movie time and the perfect seats, maybe in the dinning theater. (I have tried their food it is very good.) Then head over the La Quinta have a drink at the bar take a swim. You could also stay here should you be going to an event here in Madison. You are about 12 miles away from various places in Madison. What better than going to a game or maybe the Overture Center. Then going to the eastside for easy access in the morning. ![]() We had the meeting room set up in a U shape for our meeting. Tim was amazing. He worked with us on the electronics. Every chair has pen, paper, glass and mint on it. They also had ice water pitchers for us. Call to find out how they can assist you.
