Last week while we were at the ASTA Conference in Reno we were fortunate enough to get to go to the National Automobile Museum. It was totally amazing! You might ask what a moon exhibit has to do with cars? You can learn more about it also.
The collection of cars is known as the Harrah Collection. While we waited a wonderful agent from Reno gave us a little background on the museum. He stated that when the original owner past away they sold a good portion of the cars for the taxes. I can only imagine what the collection would have been! There are still over 300 cars to be amazed at. Not only do you get to look at the amazing cars but they have also taken the time to give you an idea of the era and/or streets, movies etc. that you would have seen them at should you have lived during their hay day.
If you look closely at the red car the plates say SAMMY. This was Sammy Davis, Jr's 1935 Duesenberg Replica.
To help fund the museum you can even adopt a car.
The museum is open Mon - Sat 9:30 am - 5:30 pm and Sun 10 am - 4 pm. It is well worth the price of $10 per adult and children go up to the age of 18. What a great place to take your teens.
The museum does open up after hours for events such as the one that I attended.
Do you have a family reunion that you are working on or a special event say an 18th or 80th birthday party!
I could see this being a wonderful venue for a destination wedding. Picture walking down in a vintage wedding dress amongst these beautiful cars. After the wedding you and your guest can browse the avenues with local beers. Silver Peak Brewery does cater the museum and have some awesome beers. While you are in Reno also check out IMBIB Brewery they have an awesome Blood Orange Berlinger (sour). Please note it does not taste like beer. That is why I liked it so much. :)
